You must renew your Construction Supervisor License (CSL) for One- and Two-Family Dwellings every two years to continue working legally. A contractor with this license type, also known as a Restricted CSL, is only allowed to work on single-family homes and duplexes, including any additional accessory structures. Due to that limitation, licensees need to complete just 10 hours of continuing education (CE) during each renewal cycle.

Partially. The Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL) allows CSL holders to complete up to six (6) of the required hours online. Attending in-person training is required for the rest.

Our state-approved courses let you set your own learning pace. Start, pause, and resume each lesson as often as you want. To comply with state law, these courses end with a 20-question final exam and include the required certificate of completion.
This course fulfills 4 hours of Residential, Administrative, Interior Environment and Fire Protection code review from the 2015 IRC, IECC, and the 780 CMR.
The DOL sends a renewal reminder to the email or physical address you provided during the initial licensing application 60 days before your license expires. The DOL also recommends completing all CE by this date.
NOTE: Even if you don't receive a reminder, you must still complete the renewal process on time.
There are three ways to complete your renewal application:
1. Online through the MyLicenseOne Portal: This is the simplest option, although it requires creating an account if you haven't already.
2. By mail: Request a renewal application and email it to OPSI-info@mass.gov. Then mail the completed application and a check or money order for the $100 renewal fee to:

The state will already have your CE certificate of completion, since we report them to the DOL every Wednesday.
3. In person: Apply in person by visiting the Office of Public Safety and Inspections, Division of Occupational Licensure.
No matter which method you choose, the DOL will typically take five weeks to process your application.
