Attendance & Privacy

The Student/Client's Privacy at CTI and Its Schools of Industry

CTI respects the student/client's privacy and security. The following privacy policy explains how CTI collects and uses personal information.

Whether the student/client self-registers for a class online or is assisted by a representative via the telephone, any personal information that the student/client may share with CTI, Partnering Schools, or Companies CTI is affiliated with is kept private. CTI does not share or sell any part of the student/client's information.

Personal Information CTI May Gather When the student/client registers for a class or purchases study materials over the telephone, fax, or online, the student/client gives CTI their:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • In some cases, payment information
CTI stores student profile information and data through a secure offline database. Payment and Credit Card information is NOT stored by CTI.

How CTI Uses the Student/Client's Information

CTI maintains a database to identify the original course/class information to answer purchaser questions throughout the licensing cycles. Many students misplace their continuing education certificates or class receipt required for retaking a class. By storing this information, CTI can track and maintain student/purchaser records safely and securely. CTI preserves student/purchaser history of continuing education courses and certificates of completion for a guaranteed period of up to 3 years at no added cost.

Affiliated Educational Provider Data Access

In the event that an educational program is hosted by or sold through a partnering university, college, or affiliated educational provider, it is possible that entity hosting/registering for the educational program will be provided access to limited student information. CTI only shares the data of students who register for our classes/courses held at partner universities, colleges, schools, or educational providers, or if a student registers via affiliated education provider websites. CTI does not sell or share information with any other source or third party. The student/client's information is kept private and confidential.

Update Your Information

If the student/client's personal information changes or the student/client wants to review the personal information CTI has on file, please email CTI at info@onlinecti.com. CTI needs the student's name, city, state, and month of registration to access the requested information.

Computer Tracking & Cookies

Our websites are not set up to trace, collect, or distribute personal information not entered by students. Our site logs generate non-identifying usage data, such as web traffic. This information is used for internal purposes only.

Disclaimer

The information contained in CTI or our Schools of Industry courses is for the sole purpose of fulfilling educational needs and should not be used as a specification guide in building projects or for legal purposes. Although all information is deemed accurate to the best of our ability, CTI or its Schools of Industry will not be held liable for the information included in the courses if used for any purpose other than to fulfill the educational need for which the course was purchased.

Student Support

CTI believes in supporting students throughout the entire educational experience, from registration to continued education questions.

Due to liability issues and variations in requirements depending on the jurisdiction, CTI does not provide consulting for professional projects or real physical works taking place. Our support pertains to course content and preparing students for exams and to fulfill licensing requirements. For questions pertaining to projects and business attributes after the student/client is licensed, contact a local government agency. The use of our course materials is for educational purposes only.

The staff at CTI assure students get the best support possible by personally answering questions and inquiries. CTI responds to all emails and after hour phone messages by the end of the next business day.

Builders License Training Institute

Complimentary basic student support including help with logging into an online program or registering for a course is provided to all students.

Terms Of Service

Online Training, Continuing Education, and Exam Prep Misuse

Individuals or companies who purchase training, continuing education, and/or exam prep programs may only use such training products on an individual basis for the specific registered student. Sharing a single registration, account, online course, or exam prep program among multiple users is a violation of these terms of service. The learning management system tracks the number of login attempts, the number of devices logged in, time spent in each course, along with other metrics involved in student security. Companies and organizations are encouraged to contact our office regarding bulk rates on training and exam prep for multiple employees.

If it is determined that an individual, company, or organization is misusing our products, or sharing their login to train multiple users with only one user account, CTI reserves the right to invoice the individual, company, or organization accordingly for the training, continuing education, or exam prep they have used.

In determining the invoice amount, the standard usage will be noted at three times the total length of the course, and usage above that will be invoiced per multiple of the total course length. (I.E. 6-hour course = 24 hours of initial use, then every 6 hours beyond initial use will be charged at the retail price via invoice). CTI reserves the right to enforce this policy on an individual basis. Students who are using the program correctly and in accordance with this policy but need extra time to study will not be charged.

100% Money-Back Guarantee

This policy applies to failed exams after completing our Builders License Training Institute exam prep courses (see below for Michigan Residential Builder and M&A Contractor policies). The student/client's tuition less the cost of any books the student/client purchased will be refunded if:

  • The course has been completed in its entirety with a course completion date (the student/client must click Complete Course at the end of the last lesson) and have scored at least 85% on all assessments.
  • The exam is taken within six months of purchasing the course.
  • If the exam is multi-part, (2 part exam for example), all portions of the exam must have been failed in order to receive a full refund.
  • The student/client provides an original receipt and the exam failure notices.
    *Refunds do not include books.

Due to the frequency of exam changes and material preparation enhancements, all refund guarantees will be honored up to six months (except if otherwise stated) from the date of purchase.

  • The request for refund must be made within six months of purchase date, OR
  • If the exams are taken in the sixth month from purchase, a refund may be requested within 30 days of the exam date.
*Course extensions do not add time to the six-month deadline. The student/client must take the exam within six-months of the original purchase date to qualify for a refund.

Exceptions:

  • Tennessee does not allow prelicense training companies to offer a guarantee; therefore, this Refund Policy does not apply to Tennessee exam prep courses. Note: The Tennessee courses meet the same standards as all other state courses CTI offers. CTI believes in “satisfaction guaranteed" – please contact us if the student/client has a problem passing their exams.

Classroom Michigan Residential Builder and M&A Contractor Exam Prep:

However, an online exam prep program will be loaded into the student/client's account so the student/client can prepare for exams. The exam prep provided with the classroom courses is a gift from us to the student/client, and therefore not eligible for the money back guarantee.

The State of Michigan requires that the following verbiage is included on all classroom prelicense courses: "All tuition and fees paid by the applicant shall be refunded if requested within 3 business days after signing a contract or registering for a course with the school. No refunds are given after the 3 business days have elapsed. Courses that are 1 day to 6.5 weeks will receive no refund once the session has begun provided that the 3 business days from signing a contract has also elapsed. All refunds shall be returned within 30 days. All tuition and fees paid by the applicant shall be refunded if the applicant is rejected by the school before enrollment. An application fee of not more than $25 may be retained by the school if the application is denied."

Students are expected to arrive on time and act appropriately during class hours. School officials have the right to dismiss a student for inappropriate or disruptive behavior.

Book and Tab Return:

CTI will accept the return of books and/or tabs as follows:

If the order has not yet shipped, CTI will cancel it. If the order has already been processed and shipped, refunds and cancellations will only be accepted under the following conditions:
    • Return unopened books and/or tabs to CTI (the student/client pays shipping) within seven business days from the date of receipt and we’ll accept the return.

  • Shipping charges will only be refunded if the package has not yet shipped.

All shipments are sent with tracking via USPS Priority Mail or FedEx to the address given during registration. Most packages are shipped the same day or the next business day and arrive within 2-4 business days. If the student/client does not receive their package, the student/client must contact CTI no later than 30 days from the purchase date. CTI will research the student/client’s order with a shipping agent. However, if their records indicate that the package was delivered, further investigation is left up to the purchaser. CTI is not responsible for the delivery arrangements made by the purchaser with USPS or FedEx, such as leaving packages at the front door, side door, etc. Missing packages beyond the 30-day limit will be researched to verify they were shipped to the student/client and the tracking number will be given to the student/client for further research. CTI is not responsible for any incorrect shipping information provided by the purchaser at the time the order was placed.

Discounts

Discount codes, when available, apply only to online course tuition and cannot be applied to book purchases. All current discount offerings must be presented by the student and are valid only at the time of purchase. CTI reserves the right to offer special discounts for various products during specified time periods only.

Complaints With CTI

It is very important to CTI that each student receives exceptional administrative and follow-up support before, during, and after their educational experience. If, however, the student experiences an issue causing any grievance, CTI wants to help find a satisfactory solution. Call CTI directly at 800-727-7104 for assistance.

If the student is still not satisfied with how CTI dealt with the grievance, the student may submit a formal complaint to:

State of Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth
Bureau of Workforce Transformation – Victor Office Center
201 N. Washington Square, 2nd Floor
Lansing, Michigan 48913

Lead Paint

Course receipts clearly state the documentation required by the EPA to attend the Lead Paint Refresher class. Failure to present the required copy of the student/client’s initial renovator certificate before the refresher course will be handled as follows:

  1. If the student/client is a past Lead Paint student with our school, please contact us before starting the class. CTI will verify the student/client’s archived records and produce a copy of the student/client’s certificate for the instructor if the student/client completed a course with us (a fee may be applicable). The student/client will receive a new certificate after completing the course.
  2. If the student/client is not a past Lead Paint student with our school, a certificate must be presented via email at ellen@onlinecti.com.

The EPA is very strict on attendance requirements and submission of student completion deadlines, so CTI is unable to grant an exception to this policy.

Do Not Call

Introduction:

It is the intention of Certified Training Institute L.L.C. (CTI), its divisions, managers, employees and agents to maintain the highest standards possible in the course of doing business. Toward this end, CTI does not intend to violate the privacy rights or wishes of any person who does not want to be called by our organization. The following policy is mandatory in all reminders, contacts, and campaigns by our company.

Do Not Call Policy (TCPA 47 USCS § 227)

Consumers may request by telephone or in writing that our company stop calling them and place their name on our company specific Do Not Call list. Although we may ask for their names, addresses and telephone numbers, we will accept a request even if the consumer only wishes to provide their telephone number. Consumers have the right to have calls stopped and to be put on our Do Not Call list, even if they are still a customer. The specific reason or severity of the tone of the request is not important. ALL REQUESTS WILL BE HONORED.

When we receive a request, the telephone number is added to our Do Not Call list within (7) days at the latest, generally immediately. It may take up to (14) days for the consumer’s telephone to be removed from all company-wide lists. A Do Not Call request stays on our list for at least 5 years. If the consumer moves, changes their telephone or adds additional telephone numbers, the consumer must provide us with the new telephone number in order for us to prevent calls to that number. We will not share the information customers provide without their prior permission.

All employees and agents that engage in outbound telecommunication are trained in this policy and made aware of these procedures before they place calls to consumers. Customer Service Representatives are also trained pursuant to this policy before they take calls from customers. Managers, supervisors, or and trainers must review this policy with these employees annually. Re-certification of training occurs on an as needed basis.

If the consumer notifies us that they have received a telephone call from us after they have already requested to be placed on our Do Not Call list, we will apologize for the intrusion and have a manager or supervisor investigate. The manager or supervisor will also personally confirm that the telephone number is on the Do Not Call list. Upon request, we will mail the consumer a confirmation that their telephone number is on the Do Not Call list.

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION FREE SERVICE

The Federal Trade Commission offers a free service to consumers that allows them to place their residential phone number on a National Do Not Call Registry. This service will reduce the number of telemarketing calls received. Consumers may add their residential phone number to the list either by calling 888-382-1222 or through the internet at www.donotcall.gov. It may take several weeks before they notice a reduction in calls.

The methods and procedures in this Do Not Call policy are reviewed by CTI’s legal team on a regular basis. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please contact our customer service department at 800-727-7104 or info@onlinecti.com

Why CTI Contacts Consumers

CTI does not contact consumers for solicitation purposes. CTI is a state and nationally approved provider of license and/or certification-based training and education programs generally pursuant to trades requiring a license or certification.

License or Certification Renewal Reminder

CTI Contacts licensees or individuals holding a certification with reminders as to upcoming renewal or educational deadlines. These calls are meant to remind the consumer of an upcoming renewal deadline, and to ensure they have all requirements for said renewal. If the consumer does have questions regarding the renewal of their license or certification, CTI provides assistance in completing the renewal requirements.

Consumer Inquiry

As both a state and federally approved provider of education generally required for license or certification in a trade, consumers often contact CTI for guidance or support in regard to becoming licensed/certified or renewing their license/certification. CTI will contact consumers who have requested information on licensing or certification in order to provide assistance and information.
