When does the residential continuing education apply?

Contractors with a residential endorsement must meet the residential continuing education (RCE) requirements when renewing their CCB license.

Qualifying education taken during the 2-year license period counts towards the RCE requirement for that period.
RCE can be taken by the owners, officers, members, employees* or any combination.
“Employee” does NOT include temporary or leased employees, or a subcontractor which is an independent contractor.

When does my Oregon CCB license expire? How often do I renew my CCB license?

Oregon CCB licenses expire two years from the date the contractor was originally licensed.

Renewal is every 2 years. The CCB will mail out renewal forms 6 to 8 weeks prior to the licensee’s expiration date.

Continuing education must be completed prior to renewing. To check what your individual continuing education requirements are, please visit the CCB’s Residential Education Requirements Estimator.

Are your courses State approved?

YES!  Each course is State approved and given a course approval number.  Our provider number is #2014RCE0007 .

How do I know how many hours of Continuing Education I’ve already taken?
Who needs to take Continuing Education?

The CE must be taken by key employees of the business.  A “key employee” is an owner or employee who is one of the following:
Corporate officer

  • Manager
  • Superintendent
  • Foreperson
  • Lead person
  • Any other person who exercises management or supervisory authority over the construction activities of the business.

CE may be obtained by one key employee or by multiple key employees. The total number of hours required depends on how many key employees the business has.

Contractors must maintain records of their key employees CE.

CE requirements do not apply to:

  • Licensed electrical or plumbing contractors or contractors licensed to work on boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Commercial Developers
  • For more information, visit www.oregon.gov/CCB
How do I provide the CE information to the CCB?

You will be asked to declare that you have taken the training on your next CCB license renewal. You should keep records of all continuing education taken by your “key” employees. (Note: CCB will not ask you to provide proof of continuing education at the time of renewal, except for your written, promised (declaration) that you completed the continuing education required for your business. )
