Asbestos is the generic term for a group of naturally occurring, fibrous minerals and is found in many products that have been installed in existing buildings and structures. Because very few asbestos-containing products are being installed today, most exposure occurs during the removal and renovation of these structures. This course will teach you how to recognize the dangers of asbestos in the construction industry, the symptoms that can be expected from exposure, many of which do not occur for many years.
This course will also describe the procedures used in handling asbestos according to OSHA Standard in the construction industry and how to comply with these standards. Students will also learn to identify the regulations that pertain specifically to Wisconsin asbestos abatement practices.
