Lead Paint (RRP) Refresher Classroom Classes

Michigan Classroom Lead Paint Safety RRP Courses The Lead Paint RRP Refresher 4-hour course is a requirement to continue your certification as an EPA Certified Renovator.  Certificates of Completion are distributed at the end of the class.

IMPORTANT!!!!  The EPA REQUIRES THAT YOU MUST bring a copy of your Lead Paint certificate to attend the class.

Please bring your initial Lead Paint RRP certificate and proof of identity to the course. If you do not have a copy of your certificate, you will not be able to attend the class. See the sample image of the certificate on the left.

Michigan Classroom Lead Paint Safety RRP Courses This course is approved on three levels:

1. Fulfills the 4-Hour Federal Requirement for the Certified Renovator Refresher course by the EPA.

2. Fulfills 4 hours of Continued Competency for the Michigan Residential Builders License and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors License.

3. Fulfills 4 hours of Continued Education for the Michigan Real Estate License.

Students wishing to attend this course will need to register in advance through this web site or call our Registration Office at 1-800-727-7104. Payment in advance is required.

Frequently Asked Questions on the EPA Lead Paint Requirements

 

How long is my initial Lead Paint RRP Certification good for?

Your initial certification is valid for 5 years from the date of course completion.

 

When will I need to take a refresher course for my re-certification?

Renovators seeking re-certification must complete a 4-hour refresher training before the expiration of their current certification. Renovators will have to take the 8-hour course if they fail to take the refresher training before the expiration of their current certificate.

 

Who is eligible to take the refresher training?

A certified renovator is eligible to take the refresher course if the course is completed before their previous certification expires. A copy of the renovator’s prior course completion certificate is required to take the refresher course.

If you have taken the initial course prior with our company and are unable to locate a copy of your initial certificate, please contact us. We will need to verify the city and date you completed the initial course in order to provide a copy of your certificate (fees may apply).

How do I re-certify my business (firm)?

Firm certifications expire every five years. Firms should submit their re-certification application at least 90 days before their expiration. This will help ensure their re-certification is complete before they expire.

What if I am certified, but not my business (firm)?

Some renovation firms have trained employees but don’t realize the firm must also be certified. The firm, or business must also be certified. Click here for information about firm certification.
