Inspection and Complaint Process for Code Officials




Approved for 1 Hour Communication for Building Officials, Building Inspectors and Plan Reviewers

State Approval #18306 – Credit(s) earned upon completion of this course will be reported to the State of Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth: Bureau of Construction Codes/ Building Division. Certificates of Completion for both Code Officials and non-Code Officials will be available to print upon completion of this course.


Course Description

As a building official it is important to have strong interpersonal and communication skills that will foster effective, cooperative working relationships with city staff members, property owners, the building and development community. They often inform, advise and resolve conflicts between the local jurisdiction, architects, developers, contractors and homeowners with regard to code and ordinance compliance. This one hour course addresses the process of inspections of complaints and violations. This 1-hour course applies one hour towards Communication credit.
