for Dwelling Contractor Certification
We provide five excellent and easy to use online courses that are approved by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce to fulfill either the Initial Dwelling Contractor Certification or Continued Education. You are required to complete 12 hours of approved education to become certified. You are then required to complete 12 hours of approved Continued Education every two years to renew your certification.
Our courses will not let you fail. If you do not get 70% on a quiz, you are simply bumped to your first incorrect answer to select another option. Come and go as you please. You will be returned to where you left off. The courses are not timed.

Three-Hour Asbestos Abatement This course covers general requirements for inspection and handling of asbestos during the demolition and renovation of buildings in Wisconsin. NOTE: This is a Continued Education course for contractors that are already certified as a Dwelling Contractor and need to renew their certification. Three-Hour Wisconsin Residential Energy Code. All permit holders (builders, remodelers and homeowners) are required to comply with the Wisconsin Energy Code. It sets the baseline for the building envelope, systems, and equipment. This course describes the details regarding building features and equipment systems as they pertain to Wisconsin Code, and helps contractors recognize how these codes can ultimately reduce and conserve energy consumption. NOTE: This is a Continued Education course for contractors that are already certified as a Dwelling Contractor and need to renew their certification. If you are getting certified for the first time, you must take a 12-hour course. |

Starting January 1, 2008, Wisconsin dwelling contractors must hold or employ someone who holds a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification in order to obtain one- or two-family dwelling building permits. In order to obtain this certification, you must complete a 12-hour initial qualifier course that has been approved by the Wisconsin Safety and Buildings Division.
Also, after you obtain the Certification, you must complete an approved 12-hour Continued Education Course during each two-year period in order to remain certified.

What To Expect with our Courses
Online access is immediate and you can come and go as you wish. Simply review the information and answer the set of quiz questions that apply to each chapter. It's that easy! You are not timed and when you come back, you will be taken to the spot you left off. Upon completion of the course, you can print your Certificate of Completion. Course #2 refers to a PDF of the Uniform Dwelling Codes. There are no additional or hidden costs to our courses. Prices include all shipping and sales tax.
If you choose the Home Study course, the materials will be mailed to your home. You can answer the review questions on an answer sheet and return it to us in the pre-addressed envelope we provide. Your results will be mailed back to you with your Certificate of Completion. It's that simple!
Obtaining Your Dwelling Contractor Certification
After you have completed the course, or had someone in your company complete the course, you will need to apply to the Safety and Buildings Division to obtain the Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification. We will provide the application with your quiz results. You will need to provide evidence that the person that completed the course complies with the various state requirements.

Future Certification
In the future, anyone renewing any Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification will need to complete 12 approved continuing education hours during the two-year education cycle that parallels the two-year term of the certification.
