EPA Lead Paint (RRP)
Renovator
Certification Classes

If you are working on pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities and you have not gotten Certified as a Lead Paint Renovator, you could get busted and fined up to $37,500.00.  We know this sounds a bit extreme, but the EPA has drawn a hard line to get their point across.  Kids are suffering from lead paint poisoning every day.  Scroll down to read the full EPA Law.

To get certified as a Lead Paint Renovator, you must complete an EPA Accredited eight-hour course. All course materials are included and you receive your color Certificate of Completion at the end of the day.  There is no waiting for it to come in the mail.

Our lead paint class is also approved for eight hours of continuing competency toward the Michigan Residential Builders and M&A Contractor license and the Michigan Real Estate License.

EPA Law Effective 4/22/10

The  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a new Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule (RRP) last April.  The rule requires firms and individuals involved in interior and exterior renovation repair and painting to be certified by April 2010 and that they follow specific lead-safe work practices to minimize exposure to lead-based paint dust.

Under the rule, beginning in April 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. For most individuals, eight hours of training is required. However, individuals who have successfully completed renovation courses developed by HUD or EPA, or an abatement worker or supervisor course accredited by EPA or an authorized State or Tribal program, can become certified renovators by taking a four hour EPA-accredited renovator refresher training

The Builders License Training Institute has been approved by the EPA to teach this 8-Hour Lead Paint Safety Course.  The cost of our course ranges from $159/student to $189/student, depending on the State where the course is located.  We work hard to keep our prices as competitive as possible.  The cost is higher in some locations because we will be incurring travel costs for the instructor or higher classroom charges.   The cost includes all course materials and students receive their color Certificate of Completion at the end of the day.  Upon completion of this course, students are certified as a "Renovator".
