Georgia Contractors License Exam Prep
Who Needs a License?
If you are building or remodeling for anyone other than on your own
personal residence that amounts to $2500 or more, you need one of these
three licenses:
1. Residential Basic Contractor
- for building one and two-family homes or one-family
townhouses not
over three stories high. Accessory buildings are included.
2. Residential-Light Commercial Contractor
- for building one and two-family homes
or one-family townhouses not
over three stories high,
PLUS
multi-family or multi-use
light commercial buildings or structures and accessory
buildings.
3.
General Contractor (includes Limited Tier exams) - for building private,
commercial,
institutional, industrial, public and other buildings or
structures. There are no limitations
on project size.
This does NOT include HVAC, plumbing or electrical.
