Dave Francis

Dave is the owner of The Builders License Training Institute and a residential builder of high end luxury homes. He spends a great deal of time researching the exams, building codes and building practices to make sure all training materials are always as up to date as possible. Dave has been teaching the Builders License Class since 1999 and is co-author of all comprehensive training materials.

Pete Norris

Pete has been working in the building trades for over 20 years, specializing in high quality trim and carpentry. His extensive knowledge in the building trades makes a fine addition to our dynamic team of instructors. Pete currently has his own fine woodworking company in Traverse City, Michigan which specializes in high end furniture and reproduction of fine originals. Mike Barton

Mike is the owner of Barton Construction Consulting LLC.  He has spent over 30 years as a Building Trades Instructor and has a vast amount of experience in the building industry from both a building and consulting standpoint.  He has fine-tuned his leadership skills through training students to build homes beginning from the architecture level and taking them through to the completed project.

Kim Krenz

Kim is currently the President of CIA, Inc., a construction inspection and administration company that supervises commercial and educational facility projects that range from 3 to 23 million dollars.  Kim is a retired Building Trades Instructor from Montcalm Intermediate School District where he taught high school junior and seniors construction technology. He was also formerly the Village Manager of Breckinridge, Michigan, managing all day-to-day activities of the village. 

Rodger Peck

Rodger is the owner of Rapid River Custom Homes out of Rapid City, Michigan.  He has been working in the building trades for over twenty years. Prior to starting his own company, Rodger was a Superintendent for one of Northwest Michigan's largest home builders, supervising the construction of multiple homes at one time.

Mark Swanson

Mark has been a senior instructor of builders license training courses since 1998, teaching primarily in southeastern Michigan. Mark has a strong background in estimating and contract management, as well as a Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University. Mark also has a great deal of experience preparing instructors to teach.

Laura Petersen

Laura is our Technical Editor in charge of making sure all training materials are up to date and error free. Laura has a strong background in administrative and marketing techniques, as well as an acute understanding of computer systems.

Robert Ellis
Rob is the owner of a R. Ellis Construction Company, a residential and commercial construction business located in Jonesville.  He has a vast amount of building experience including such projects as strip malls, miniature golf courses, public transportation facilities and waste treatment centers, as well as many residential projects. 

Judy Oster
Judy Oster is the proud Mother of a son and a daughter, both with budding careers in law enforcement.   She has two grandchildren with a third on the way.  Judy has a strong background in banking and financial management.  She is competent in several clerical software programs and loves talking to people.
