Continuing Competency Classes
for the
Michigan Residential Builders License
and M&A Contractors License

If you received your first residential builders or M&A license before January 1, 2009, you only need 3 Hours of continuing competency per licensing cycle and it has to include one hour of Code, one hour of Law and one hour of Safety.

If you were licensed after January 1, 2009, you will need to complete 21 hours before the third anniversary of the date you were licensed, with a minimum of 3 hours per year.  To find out exactly when you were licensed, click on CHECK A LICENSE from the menu to the right.

Two ways to complete your 21 hours of continuing competency:

1.  ONLINE - Fulfill this requirement in the comfort of your own home.  We have ten
    courses available online that will fulfill the 21 hours that are required of builders
    and contractors who were licensed after January 1, 2009.  All courses are easy to
    navigate and inexpensive.  You can come and go as you please and the courses
    will not let you fail.

2.  CLASSROOM - We have ten courses available in the classroom, including the
    EPA Accredited Lead Paint Renovator course, that will fulfill this requirement.
    These classes vary from one hour in length to eight hours and are available
    wherever we are holding our 60-hour program.  Call our
    Registration Office at 1-800-727-7104 for more information and to register.


    Our lead paint RRP course also qualifies for 8 hours of continuing competency.
